As a member of the Parents United database, you are part of a large and powerful statewide, grassroots organization of informed parents and citizens who are committed to Minnesota’s leadership in quality public education. We are contacting you today because we need your financial support to continue this important work.

Over these five years, our primary goal has been to empower parents and citizens to act on behalf of our children and the public schools that serve them. We do this by providing credible and timely information that fosters an understanding of the connection between public policy debated at the state level and the quality of our local schools. Our website, which last year alone was visited 220,000 times, provides in-depth, up-to-the-minute education information.

When we send an email it is read and shared in every single legislative district in the state of Minnesota—all 134 of them! This has resulted in a singularly informed, engaged and powerful network of parents and citizens. In fact, Parents United is often credited with changing the political landscape for Minnesota’s public schools.

We are fortunate to have received start-up funding from several area foundations, but our future effectiveness and stability depend on the support of people like you. We will continue to seek institutional grants, but individual contributions are an ever-more important measure of our value to the people of the state. Individual gifts currently account for 25% of our budget. This is outstanding but we need to increase this by 10 to 20% to demonstrate our growing strength. If you believe that our work continues to be of value in the debate over education funding and policy, please consider a donation so these efforts can continue.
